English Language Challenges

Since I was a child I liked English, and I always tried to learn it as much as I could. When I was 12 years old I started to get interested in boy bands, almost all the music I listened to was in English, and for my own interest I started looking for the lyrics of the songs and translate them with a dictionary, and that way I learned English practically alone. Later when I was older I always tried to get good grades in that subject. In fact it never cost me much to learn it.

At university, the use of blogs helped me a lot to improve my writing skills and my grammar, it is very useful to write weekly on a specific topic! Also making videos speaking in English, as well as improving my writing helped me with pronunciation and fluency.

Nonetheless, I can still improve my English because it still costs me a bit to maintain fluent conversations. You always have to keep perfecting yourself! I plan to take courses to increase my level of English, and after that I would like to be able to travel to an English-speaking country such as the United States or England. And additionally, after learning English completely I would love to be able to learn another language like German or French.

I think that lately I have very little English language outside of my English class. I usually listen to music in English and I always try to pay attention to the lyrics and try to understand them without having to look for them.

This is my last blog of English IV, and I am very happy to have gone through this great experience, to have shared with classmates from other careers that I did not know and to share with classmates of my same career with whom I do not usually talk so much. I loved having gone through this course. Success in all!

Changes to my study program

Personally, being a first year student, I don't question much the changes that the career program should suffer. In fact, he had never asked me until today.


Food Engineering is a career oriented to the chemical sciences and 11 semesters of duration, being the first two years common subjects are carried out with all the faculty careers, and from the third year onwards the specialized subjects begin. I think that having two years of "basic" subjects is a good way to introduce yourself to the world of the university. And I do not really understand much about exactly what specialized subjects are about.

Many times I have thought that the duration of the career is not very long, but it is not short either, although I think it has the duration it has because we must approve the necessary subjects so that tomorrow we can face the world of work.

On the infrastructure of the faculty, I think It could be better, maybe a little more technological. But I think the laboratories (or at least those that I have been in) are in good conditions and have the necessary aertifacts to do the classes.


I think that the teaching methods vary according to the teacher, although almost all the sujects have in common that hour of cathedra and seminars are held, which are a good instance to solve doubs that the teacher has not been able to clarify

Regarding the use of technology, I think it is something deficient, at least in the short time that I have. The fact that he is studying basic branches does not allow us to use technology totally related to food engineering.

In my opinion...

Today I'm writting a different blog. I'm going to answer some questions related to Chile today.

1.- What is my opninion about buying instead of adopting pets?

I think every one has the right to decide between adopting or buying a pet, it’s a decision of  every persona and also adjusts to the socioeconomic situation. But I personally think that adopt it’s a beautiful act, because you are giving a home to a homeless animal.

2.- What is my opninion about climate change?

About the climate change I think that it’s a worrying subject because it’s something that harms everyone, as inhabitans of planet Earth. The increase the greenhouse gas production is responsability of man causes the increase of temperaturas within the planet and one of the things the it causes is the melting of the glaciers.

3.- What is my opinion about recycling?

Recycling it’s a attitude of life, when we recycle we are responsable of the present and the future of our planet, to give a good home to our future generations. When we separate waste of garbage, we are making a little big difference!

4.- What is my opinion about immigration?

In my opinion immigration it’s not a bad thing, actually, I think it’s good to know new cultures. But the problem is when they help increase delinquency, when they don’t respect the law. We don’t need bad contributions that there are already.

5.- What is my opinion about legalization of abortion in the 3 cases?

I personally agree with the free abortion, more than in 3 causes, I think that every woman has the right in her own body. Nowadays, abortion it’s a reality, many women die from ilegal abortions, why not to legalize a free and safe abortion?
